REALIZATION OF LIFE & MEDITATION WITH ITS EFFECT
Realization in the Later Years of Life
Dear followers, let us share a realization with you. Today, in the later years of life, while taking stock of life, I was truly amazed — this entire life is full of mistakes. We came to this earth by mistake; no one brought us here, so our parents — this becomes increasingly irrelevant. In one word, we were not brought to this world; we happened to arrive — as a source of joy for our parents; they did not give birth to us, we simply took birth. As you know — planets, stars, days, moments and so on influence us, so we should invoke God and determine an auspicious day and moment before giving birth to a child.
So, am I blaming my parents? Not at all, because they did not know how to give birth to a child properly; no one told them. And what about us? We are walking the same path. In these later years, I have come to understand that enjoying family life is one thing, and giving birth to a child is another — a highly instructive subject. The scriptures contain detailed descriptions about this, which remain outside our vision.
Why am I discussing this? Because when a child is born at an auspicious moment, that child becomes well-born, and a well-born child can bring well-being to your home, neighborhood, and country. Look at the statistics — from Vivekananda to A.P.J. Abdul Kalam, all the powerful personalities were born at auspicious moments. And those who were born merely as a source of pleasure — they were not brought into the world; they just happened to arrive, so they are self-born. And because of being self-born, they want to live by their own rules.
Today, in most homes, the majority of children are disobedient to their parents because they are self-born. Because of this self-born nature, their own comfort and convenience come first, because here the ego has grown large. And because of this ego and lower tolerance, the pot that used to hold 10 kg of rice has now shrunk to 1 kg — meaning people have moved away from the joint-family mindset toward nuclear families; we are losing the structure of joint families.
That is why parents are being neglected in their old age — in the arena of the world's ever-growing competition for wants and desires, parents are being ignored. We have gained much education and earned much money, built houses and cars, but we have not truly become human because of this ego. The foundation of this was laid at the moment of birth. For real social change, we need to give birth to children at auspicious moments, which will make them patient, tolerant, and obedient.
Anyway, whether we were born at an auspicious time or not, at that time we received two things — 1) this mortal body and 2) the immortal soul. From that birth until this late hour, we remained engrossed only in this mortal body — lust, anger, money, greed, craving, and above all the pressures of family and work. We could never even remember the immortal soul.
This mortal body may leave at any time, yet how much pride we took in it, how much we showed off, how much we pampered it, and how much we decorated it. But we forgot the immortal soul, for whose progress we primarily came to this earth. The mortal body survives on one principle — if you wake, it is morning; if you do not wake, it is the afterlife. And the soul is immortal, without destruction — yet we never came to know it.
Was there a way to know this immortal soul? Yes, there was, but no one told us. The soul means “I” — so knowing and recognizing oneself is extremely important. Because if you do not know yourself, you cannot know God; your soul cannot ascend. Those who smear the name of Rama on their bodies and try to establish themselves as devotees of God without knowing themselves are all fake. You can become a scholar by reading books, but you cannot know yourself that way.
We only try to know God under the shelter of social rituals. What are these rituals? That house is holding a hariseva, so you are also holding one; that neighborhood is organizing an ashtaprahar, so you arrange one in your neighborhood too; or seeing another neighborhood's puja, you organize one in your own. This is nothing but ritualism. It may create a pleasant atmosphere for a while, but it is temporary and cannot help you know yourself.
Come, let me briefly explain meditation — choose a soft place, sit in lotus posture, place your hands on your knees, straighten your spine, raise your head, then slowly close your eyes. Then focus completely on your nose; you may chant your chosen name or pay attention to the breath flowing in and out through your nose. You will see that around 9 minutes you feel a little afraid because you strongly perceive the sound of your breathing. Then around 14 minutes you will be amazed again — is my breathing actually not moving through my nose?
Anyway, after 15 minutes, slowly open your eyes and lie down in savasana for 1 to 2 minutes, then slowly sit up. Something magical will happen to you — realize it; you will feel a coolness at the crown of your head. Practitioners say that meditation creates cosmic energy at the crown. Scientifically speaking, why do we sleep at night? To remove the tiredness of the day and regain energy. Meditation gives the body 13 times more energy than sleep, which is why after 15 minutes of meditation, you cannot even feel the movement of breath in your nose.
When should you meditate? Generally before your afternoon snack or in the morning during Brahma Muhurta. How long should you meditate? Usually you should meditate for 15 minutes; beginners may start with 10 minutes and gradually increase the time.
Benefits: 1) Sleep at night will be very deep and sound. 2) The spine will become straight, or back pain will be reduced. 3) Your thinking power will increase. 4) Your mind and mentality will develop in a refined way.
In the end, the journey of life is not about accumulating wealth, fame, or temporary pleasures. It is about realizing the eternal truth within. We often chase the mortal body, forgetting the immortal soul. But through awareness, discipline, and meditation, we can reconnect with our true essence. Let us strive to become real human beings — patient, compassionate, and awakened. May we all discover the light within and live with purpose, bringing peace to ourselves and to the world around us. 🌿✨
